Playland is a historic family amusement park and entertainment complex in Rye, New York, that first opened in 1928 and is owned and operated by Westchester County.
Until recently it was the only government owned and operated amusement park in the United States. Having experienced declining attendance and a series of revenue losses, Westchester County recently issued a Request for Proposals.
Entitled “Reinventing Playland for the 21st Century,” the RFP seeks to end the taxpayer burden and invites respondents to propose a number of uses for the property. This website presents Central Amusement International (CAI)’s proposal to Westchester County to preserve, manage and improve Playland Park.
Our concept and commitment is to KEEP IT PLAYLAND. Our Proposal will continue Playland as a Family Amusement Park, preserving its historical rides and structures, introducing new state of the art rides and returning to free admissions and family-friendly pricing.
